Storing Salts
If you purchase a large amount of salts, of any type, in bulk you will need a place to store it. The best storing methods are in a sealed glassed container. The glass is going to prevent anything from getting to the salt, and the sealed tight lid on the container is not going to allow any amount of moisture to get into the salt.
Storing salts is important because when moisture is added to the salt the salt will get clumpy and will become hard almost impossible to use. Some of the larger, coarser salts do not react in the same nature as the smaller finer salts will, but with enough moisture or humidity in the air, the salt will become hard to work with.

You shouldn’t store salt in a container that has had coffee, onions, or chemicals that smell in it. The salt will absorb the smells of what it is in or stored with. Taking a bath with your bath salts and finding an onion smell coming from the hot water is not going to be appealing at all.
A sealed container that is cleaned and completely dry before storing your salt in it is going to be the best situation for storing bath salts. The container could be glass, or plastic, but you should avoid storing your salts in a metal container. Salt stored in a metal container is going to take on a smell of the metal. While you may not notice it at first, salt stored in a metal container will smell after a period so choose plastic or glass for the best results.
Storing salts that you are going to use to make bath salts with at a later date should be stored in a cool, dry place perhaps like your pantry, in the towel cupboard or on the shelving under a sink in the kitchen or in the bathroom.
Storing Salts as Décor
One of the great things about making your own bath salts is that you can use the excess that you make to match your home décor. Storing bath salts in large glass or small glass containers you can display them through the home in a great number of places. You can store your colored or plain bath salts in clear glass or in colored glass containers. Adding a bow or a piece of cloth of your choice, and the bath salts becomes a great addition to your bathroom.
Imagine if you will, using a coloring in your bath salts, or perhaps you have added a bubble bath coloring to your bath salts. The colors inside of the glass are going to make a difference in your bathroom as it shows through the glass.
And then perhaps you have a theme in your bathroom, you could match that theme, putting hearts, vines, or ribbons on the jars for showing off your bath salt treasures in the bathroom. When you have a chance to get in the tub, your bath salts will be right there on hand and ready for use.
Where to Store Bath Salts
The best place to store your prepared bath salts will be near the tub or shower! If you have a shelf that is handy right near the tub you will find you will use your bath salts more often. If you were to store your bath salts in the bedroom or in the hallway closet you might not be able to get out there and ‘get’ the bath salts when you want them most.
Sometimes the impulse to draw a bath and then reach for the salts will not leave you time to get out in the hall or into the pantry where you have bath salts, but when you have them handy and in the bathroom you are likely to use and enjoy them much more.
